Sony DPT-RP1

Paper will go into the background?

Recently, an updated, second version of “electric paper” from Sony was presented at the exhibition. Manufacturers want to minimize the use of paper, and instead use a more convenient E-reader.
This digital panel is designed for businessmen, scientists, designers and other people who have a large part of the table occupied by paper. Manufacturers did this in order not to bother with the papers, but simply take the multifunctional E-reader and feel comfortable.

It is equipped with a non-slip panel, which according to the developers, will make annotation more convenient with the help of electric pen. With a 13.3 inch display and support for 16 gradations of gray, the new Sony offers a much higher resolution than its predecessor: it equals 2200 × 1660 pixels. It is also thinner, smaller and more productive than the previous model. Also, the producers noted that its thickness is 30 sheets.

E-reader supports only PDF format. Also, the manufacturers have developed a program on a PC called Digital Paper App. It was created in order to simplify the conversion of documents and web sites into PDF format and for wireless transfer to this E-reader.

It includes a 64 bit Marvell processor, and also supports bluetooth, wifi, RAM reaches 16 GB, built-in 11 GB. There is also a micro USB port. Its weight is 350 g. Sales will start from June 5 in Japan at a price of 80,000 yen (about $ 790).
